Air Pollution

Air pollution refers to the presence of harmful substances in the atmosphere that can affect human health, the environment, and the climate. These substances, known as pollutants, can be in the form of gases, particulate matter, or biological materials. Common air pollutants include carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ozone, and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5).

Air pollution can originate from various sources, including industrial emissions, vehicle exhaust, burning of fossil fuels, agricultural activities, and natural events like wildfires and volcanic eruptions. The impact of air pollution can lead to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, adverse effects on wildlife, and contributions to climate change. Efforts to manage and reduce air pollution often involve regulatory measures, technological innovations, and shifts towards sustainable practices.
